In May 2023, it was again time for EIAS, Ecophon International Acoustics Seminar. We were utterly proud to once more host an event, focusing on development in room acoustics AND sharing a great time with some of the brightest minds within the field of acoustics. A bit more than 200 guests and 25 speakers from 6 continents shared knowledge and facts, smiles and laughs for 3 days.
EIAS has gathered people with a professional interest in room acoustics for decades. It started as a smaller Swedish conference but has become an international event over the years. Thoughts have been revealed, groundbreaking research has been presented and new friendships have grown. EIAS exists because sound matters and we all believe that we can improve conditions in healthcare, in schools and in offices by improving acoustic conditions.
Development in Acoustics
Ecophon has a long tradition of investing in research and some of our colleagues contributed on stage. The Research Director at Ecophon, Ola Karlsson, explained how the company has worked with science over the years and what impact room acoustic quality has on people in offices, healthcare, and education facilities. Ola Karlsson explained how Ecophon collaborates with academia, is active in standard committees, and how the company insists in being a research based and innovative partner in the industry – and he ran through some of the research that has been done over the years.
Ecophon has had the privilege of working with Erling Nilsson for decades and he has been a key influencer and ambassador for optimum room acoustics – the the applause when Erling was asked on stage was very well deserved! Erling has chosen to retire, but his legacy will live forever.
Besides Ola Karlsson, Ecophon also contributed with the following presentations:
Practical implications of acoustic design of open plan offices according to ISO 22955:2021 by Juan Negreira
The effect of sound absorbers and diffusers in ordinary public rooms by Emma Arvidsson
Acoustics and Air Quality – The Impact on Student Concentration and Fatigue by Rainer Machner
